A CLEARER PICTURE

Data & privacy

A short guide to what happens when you use Seoul Helper.

Location and searches

You can explore Myeongdong without sharing your device location. If you choose a nearby search, your browser asks for location permission; when allowed, your coordinates are sent to Seoul Helper to find and sort nearby places. You can deny permission and still use the Myeongdong area search.

Searches and map directions work without an account. Search text you type to filter results stays in your browser and is not included in Seoul Helper’s product-count events.

Basic product counts

Seoul Helper automatically sends a small set of counts for page visits, search starts and outcomes, and directions opened. These events contain the service category and, for searches, the selected distance and result outcome. They do not contain device coordinates, facility IDs, search text, persistent visitor IDs, referrers, or full page URLs.

Daily aggregate counts are grouped by date and are visible only in the private admin dashboard. They do not identify individual visitors.

Events are not sent when your browser’s Do Not Track setting is enabled. There is no separate analytics toggle.

Saved places

Saved places are kept in this browser’s local storage. They are not attached to an account or sent to Seoul Helper. Clearing this browser’s site data removes them.

Restroom reports

If you submit an on-site access report, Seoul Helper receives the listed facility ID and the option you selected. The form does not ask for your name, contact details, or device location. Some source facility IDs may themselves contain coordinates published with that facility record. Reports are recorded in service logs for review and do not automatically change the public listing.

External map services

When you choose a map or directions link, it opens the map provider you selected and includes the destination’s location. That provider’s own privacy terms apply after you leave Seoul Helper.

This page describes the data flows implemented in Seoul Helper. Hosting providers may also process technical request information needed to deliver and protect the service; their systems determine how long those operational records are kept.
